I'm trying to figure out how to transfer all my contacts, etc to a new blackberry.

My computer picks up the old blackberry just fine, also picked up my fiances. This new one (or newer) doesn't get picked up by the computer. It is also a 8330 curve just like the others.

I've tried it with it on and off, no luck. When its off it flashes yellow twice then nothing. When its on, it shows charging then 5 seconds later it goes away.

Never gets picked up no matter what I do.

    Please help.

Does the new 8330 charge normally when plugged into a wall charger? If no, then there may be a problem with its USB port.

Yeah I put it on the charger and its charging.

It's not activated either, but I don't think that would matter.

I don't think activation matters either. Unless someone else posts a better idea, you may have no choice but to exchange it for another.

I bought it online to replaced my old blackberry. (ebay)

It was used. It's good condition, minus it won't pick-up from my computer.

So now you know why the previous owner sold it. I'm sorry.

    Seller just contacted me :

"There is a little thing on it requesting that it be updated. I checked with blackberry and that's what they told me I needed to do...try that and see if it works..."

Have you tried a battery pull on the Berry? Or a computer reboot? those are steps I would take before considering it a bad usb port.

I tried on different computers, both mine and my fiances 8330 curve worked on the computers, while this one didn't. The seller sent me the message above that I inputed, does that mean I need to activate it and update it?

You could try.. But any berry should be recognizable by a computer. No matter what OS is installed.
Have you done a battery pull? Pulling the batter out for a minute or so and then putting it back in so the device can reboot.

    Battery thing didn't work.

The seller told me that there should be a update, a icon with a red star next to it. I checked on my old BB under "options", "advan. options" and "wireless update". The BB I got doesn't have that.

What OS version is it running? go to options > about > number on the 3rd line down with a "v" in front of it.

Well 2 curves work on the computer, and then the new one doesn't. I know it's not my computer otherwise none of the blackberrys would work.

Have you tried pulling the battery while it was plugged into the computer? That's a remedy for people whose devices aren't recognized by their PC's, might work in this case.

Well at a closer look, the middle prong is bent up slightly as the seller told me to look. But it charges. Is it possible it'd charge, but the USB cord wouldn't pick it up because the prong is bent up?

Talked with both sprint and blackberry tech. support. The USB port has to be bad.

Yes. The two outer pins carry the power. The two middle pins carry data. You'll notice on the computer end of the cable that the middle two pins are recessed compared to the outer two. That's so the device will always see power before the data connection mates. Unfortunately it does sound like the seller sold you a device with a bad port.

Yeah, that would confirm what Jeff said. You could get the USB port replaced or just get a refund from the seller.
