    I have a brand new Curve and would like it unlocked.
    But I don't want to mail it out to some unknow dude to do it.

    Anyone in the NYC area knwo who does it same day in a shop that I can walk into?

    how long have you been with t-mobile. you could always contact them to see if they would provide you with the unlock code.

    You don't have to send the BlackBerry anywhere, you just give them a bit of info like the IMEI and carrier and they send you back a code. From there, follow the many directions posted here to unlock it.

    or just call the carrier. If its your phone, att / cingular / tmobile will give it to you for $0.00 !
    Just the wait time can sux sometimes. (24-47 hrs via email )
