LoL did he admit he was wrong WOW!!! This day should be remembered.
?
As I said, I can't test it myself but this test will only work if you turn 3G off the second the email arrives, wait 5 seconds and the email will be downloaded by the time you turn it off especially if the email only contains one line.
This has nothing to do with the speed of the email, regardless how relevent is or it's not to some people, it was about the process behing the email and how it's delivered.
How I tested on my BB, have connections open and with my finger over All Off button, sent the email, and as soon is it vibrated I pressed all off, so not even 30 seconds delay.
The email I forwarded was a html newsletter email that I received earlier, not just a one line email.
So I tried this last night myself.
The email program itself was closed before checking it.
If I sent myself a basic text email, shutting it off immediately as soon as the email came in had no effect for my Push Email accounts: I was still able to see the entire message.
With emails with large attachments, no effect either (but at this point I couldn't download the attachment).
The third was a decently large HTML based email. In that case, I noticed that my email had only partially downloaded.
My guess most likely falls in line with what Sam just said: the iPhone notifies you the second any hint of an email comes in and starts downloading. The issue is I shut off the network immediately while it was downloading the message; hence the partial download.
I'm curious if BlackBerry does the same thing. If it gets the same message but in full, then perhaps this is a difference in notification styles: iPhone notifies as soon as the first hint of the email comes in while BlackBerry waits until download (up to truncated size of course) before notifying you. This, along with having to go through BIS servers, might explain the slight delay in the BB receiving the email in Brandon's video.
Course, this is only a hypothesis/theory.
I turned off 3G as soon as I felt the email come in, instantly you may say and this is how much text the email had on my BB:
"opular third-party browser BOLT has been discontinued according to the company's site. BOLT first made it's name on BlackBerry way back in 2009 as being a top third party browser with its speed and tabbed browsing when the native BlackBerry Browser was still lacking in features. It's definitely sad to see it go, but as the company stated on their site, they can no longer continue to support BOLT.
The free BOLT mobile browsing service will be discontinued. Unfortunately, the economic circumstances prevent us from running a free service going forward. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your loyalty and support. *
So what say you? Are you sad to see BOLT go away for good? Or does the native browser suit you just fine? Hit the forums and let us know your thoughts!

I liked it when I had a Storm with 4.7. With the massive native browser upgrades since then, I stopped using Bolt. I'm not going nearly as far as saying it sucked, but it became unnecessary and if it's losing them money, they may as well stop.

Good Riddance!!! It's about time they gave up. I gave them multiple chances and everytime I downloaded the browser, It was deleted by the end of the day. Sad to see any project come to an end, and its sad to see the effects of the economy.
Opera would break my heart if this happened to them.

Well I have friends that used it as a back up browser but in my opinion, once OS6 was in my hand, there was no longer any point to using Bolt. So it comes to no surprise to me that it will be discontinued.

It's never a happy occasion when a product or service that fosters competition and its mostly beneficial outcome ceases to exist, Bolt has been my secondary BlackBerry browser since its debut, many times it was the only browser I used on certain websites that did not work well with the BlackBerry built in native browser. I will miss it.

I liked Bolt. I used it in conjunction with the native browser. One is good for some things, one is good for others. When it comes down to it though, Bolt was good for only"
And at the bottom was the more available nottification so that's where BIS stopped it.
My theory is iphone receives a nottification to retreive the email while the BB receives the whole email up to where "more available" cuts in.
Does it have colorful graffiti? :p:D
I don't remember anybody twisting your arm to take part in or read the conversation.
lol, this is ridiculous. Why do some of y'all get so huffy and puffy whether a phone has push or instant or this or that? I have never in my life seen people get upset and debate over something so trivial as phones. There is only one other debate I've seen that really gets pumped up like phones...carb vs fuel injected.
Lol, that debate is long over, no choice anymore.
Can we start talking about Ice Cream again?
yummm me want Ice cream
Have you checked out a video game site recently? It is ten times worse than cellphones. The maturity level really drops. :)
lol, no. I teach in a 6th-12th grade school so I typically just ask the students what's good depending on the genre I'm on the prowl for. I can only imagine though.
A pointless 4 page off-topic debate with constantly moving targets. Nobody is going to admit they were wrong... nobody is going to back down so it's time for the referee to make a decision.
