... very disappointed to find Amazon appstore force-installed on my Z10 10.3.1.1779 with no way to uninstall it. I do not want any android/Amazon crap on my phone, that is why I have been using BB for almost 10 years!!! I am now looking for an alternative phone/os that does not force unwanted apps. etc on to MY phone.
Thank you in advance for your considered opinions. P.S. I am in the UK.

It doesn't actually start running until you first open it, so if you haven't then best option is to stick it in a folder with other stuff you don't use (I named mine "crap") and forget about it.

If that's not enough then I think you're out of luck since most platforms subject you to some degree of unwanted apps.

The Amazon Appstore is essentially part of the OS in 10.3.1 and up. It can't be permanently deleted. If you don't sign in on it, it will do nothing. Moving it into a folder will at least take it out of view.

I fully agree. I don't like that the Amazon store is a part of the system and that I cannot change ACL rights for app. Amazon store should not be a part of the system and neither should the Android player. Android should be kept separate from the BB10 system as much as possible and not infesting it.

I uninstalled the spyware Facebook, which runs in the background even if you never use or even logged in. It should be possible to do the same with Amazon store.

Can't you download and install the downloaded APK over the pre-installed version?

Some iirc have reported they were able to remove it that way. That kind of "unlocks" it, it seems to become a user-installed app and therefore removable by tapping, holding and hitting the trash bin icon...

That was the case with the early 10.3.1's. It doesn't work on the more recent versions of 10.3.1, or any of the 10.3.2's. Nor does removal via Sachesi.

I was a bit excited to see that this might have been an option but, I can confirm, if it may have worked previously, it doesn't seem to any longer.

You can make it disappear using parental controls. I'm using a VZW Z10 with 10.3.2.440.

I am not certain if I have some sort of installation glitch or if it is because I will not accept the permissions requested by the updated Amazon appstore that appeared with OS update 10.3.2.680, but now I have two Amazon appstore icons that I cannot remove and must hide. Wonder if I will have three Amazon appstore icons to hide with next OS update and how many I will have a year from now. LOL

I agree that we should at least be able to remove the icon and not have to hide it in a junk folder or use parental controls to do so.

I don't seem to have that as an option in my Settings.

Would be nice... my 4 year old keeps installing and deleting apps on my wife's BlackBerry.

Nope, nothing called Parental Controls in there either. When I search for it with BlackBerry Assistant it brings me to the Settings Home Page. That's it.

Settings - Security - Parental Controls. This feature has always been there with every OS.

If you can't find it in Security & Privacy, go into BlackBerry World, swipe down and select BlackBerry World settings and click Content Control, input your password and confirm password, then you'll see an option for Parental Control as seen in the screen shot added. Click input password and it'll take you to Parental Control page.

If you still don't have Parental Control, then I suggest you check your OS, make sure it's official or maybe update or reload it.

Just stick it on a back page somewhere. Is it really bothering you? It's not exactly doing anything.

I wonder, and it's a total guess on my part, but I think the Amazon Appstore being baked in was probably something Amazon insisted on as part of their deal getting it available on BB10.

It's not that big of a deal. As much as people like to throw the "sheep" word around about iOS users it seems the BlackBerry crowd goes to the other extreme (tinfoil hattish) when it comes to privacy and control. Frankly not sure which is worse.

If the phone is on BES this feature is disabled.

Thanks! That would explain why I don't see this feature. I am on a BES.

If it is not part of BB10 and you cannot get rid of it, then it is better to treat them (Amazon and the Android run time) as spyware until proven otherwise.
