Bought an unlocked BB curve 8520 in UAE. It does not seem to work in Canada. The phone will recognize the SIM but all I get is the SOS for signal. Any thoughts on how to fix this problem?

For your sake I hope I'm wrong but I recall reading somewhere that it may be using a different frequency than the bb's in Canada and US. Hopefully someone else can give you the whole scoop. Good luck.

    Bell, Telus are 3G only.
    WIND, Mobilicity are AWS 3G

You'll only be able to use it on Rogers, because they're the only operator with a 3G/EDGE network.

I have a blackberry that my wife is using from the UAE and it works with both Fido and Rogers in Canada (we are in Vancouver at the moment)

Yeah, phones from the middle east work on GSM networks. So to reiterate what some have said, it'll work with Carriers like Rogers and Fido.
