Hello everyone,

I am a newbie but have a red 8830 on Verizon that is unlocked and I was wondering if I can use this as a prepaid through Verizon? I am an AT&T customer as well. Is this an option. I only want it for my son as a phone with possible text, no email or data package.

Verizon does not allow Blackberrys without the data package.

So can I have it flashed to another carrier that will let me use it as a prepaid? I don't care who it is...just want a basic phone with texting.
