Hi,

Looking at getting a bb10 after the January launch. I was wondering if you can shut off the data, and use free WIFI only? Free WIFI at work, and WIFI at home. Will need a new phone, good flip phones are over priced. Do not want an iphone, nor an android phone. Already have a mac and ipod touch, so apple'd out, and have an android tablet, do not want an android phone, google'd out too.

Basic plans include free bbm and talk time. Do like the features that bb has to offer, so it will get used.

There's no way to know.
I'm guessing you'll need some sort of contract to use BBM, because it still goes through RIM's servers (AFAICT), it's just based on BBID now instead of pin.
OTOH, there are lots of free apps that let you do instant messaging; only time will tell.

yes, Iwill sign a contract, no problem there. I know most smart phones do not require a data plan, and can surf free wifi. hope bb10 will too.
