I have always been under the impression that when you store electronics you should remove the battery.
I have a Z10 and a Z30 that I am currently using, and a Z30 as a spare. Can I pack up the spare Z30 until I need it? Or do I have to keep it on my desk to recharge regularly? (as I am doing now).
Too bad the battery is not replaceable :-(

The battery will lose some charge while being off but it will take time. Don't turn it off with a full battery, do it at around 80%. Take it out every couple months and plug it in and let it charge up a bit. Shut it off and put it away for a couple more months.

Lithium batteries are best stored between 80% and 40%, even 30%.

Don't let it go empty all the way... :-)

But if I put it away at 80% it will eventually go to empty. Maybe it's better off on my desk after all :-).

Hmmm. Looks like what I suspected is correct - why Garmin batteries don't seem to last very long. It gets pretty hot on my dashboard while I'm using it. I do put it in a cool place when I park, but sometimes it gets so hot in the sun you can hardly touch it, even if it is off.
Good argument for replaceable batteries. Of course, it's better for the manufacturer if I buy a new device instead of a new battery!!

As an aside, hubby has a 3 year old iPhone 5. The battery was not holding a charge. He took it to an apple store and they gave him a new battery, no charge!! I wonder if Garmin or BlackBerry would do that?

You'll be fine storing your phone off. Just plug it in every couple months or so. i take my laptop battery out and do that with it.
