Here is my plan and will keep you posted:

I am going to run the phone completely dead it is at 25% as I am typing this post. I do not have a spare battery so there will be no cheating. This is going to be 100% legit. I will plug the Z10 in for overnight charging, then in the morning obviously unplug the device before I go to work and use it how I normally would through out the day. I will post screen shots of the device, record the battery percentage, and the time of day. I have a USB cable at the office so I can upload them to the thread.

I will not plug the Z10 in the following night (unless it is completely dead) as this is going to be a full 24 hours of not being on a charger.

My normal usage is checking facebook, twitter, texting a few people, receiving emails, checking sports stuff, and playing a couple of games such as Where's My Water?

    My device's credentials:

    Model: Z10
    Model Number: STL100-3
    Network: Bell
    Software: 10.0.10.85

Not much is going to happen until tomorrow, but if interested please follow along.

The USB connection will charge the battery. Also, the test is going to skew the results. The extra work of taking and copying screen shots will affect the battery. It would be better to take pictures of the Z10 with another device and post from that.

Good point. I will have to remember to bring another device.

I look forward to the results. It would be nice if you can get 24 hours with typical use. It might be possible if your cell coverage is good.

Cool idea. I'll be interested to see how it goes. You should do it as a video, maybe even make a StoryMaker video after all is said and done.

I've found that gaming drains the battery, which makes sense. I'll be interested to see if your findings comport with that.

I am thinking by 9pm tomorrow it will need a charge, if he goes about using the phone normally.

I vote he keeps using it until it shuts itself down. The other day I was surprised when I get an hour of use (shooting video and chatting) after the indicator turned red. If it makes it through the day, put it in bedside mode and see if it makes it through the night.

I take mine off around 6am and plug it around 9 or 10pm. That is good enough for me.

I MIGHT be Able to get 24 hrs since it would be on standby around 10pm. I don't see the value in the test because it would be dead when I would normally need to be heading out for work.

The battery is good enough for me but good luck anyway.

I would be interested to see how long it goes after it goes into the orange. I usually plug mine in by the time it goes red, although usually I haven't reached that point by the time I'm done for the night unless I've been playing games in the evening. I'm impressed you got an hour of good usage out of it.

The Z10 has finally died at 8:20 pm mountain standard time. I will now plug in the device and charge it for the night.

It sounds like you need to calibrate the battery with the battery meter. This changes over time as the battery characteristics change with age and usage.

As you can see it dropped 5% in 40 minutes. I received 2 emails and 1 Facebook notification in that time frame.

I was on wi-fi when I left home now LTE at the office.

Did you log how many messages you sent/received? How long you were on fb/twitter/sports? That would have been good statistic for us. Good post

Jeez. 10% in 2 hours is good. I usually drop that in 30-45 mins after taking it off the charger in the morning. That's pretty much with the screen constantly on (reading news, Facebook, crackberry, etc)

Anyway, will keep on checking your results throughout the day. Thanks for the experiment.

So on pace for 20 hours. Putting it in bedside mode should get you 24.

Of course you haven't started gaming yet.

    This is an interesting test.

It would be also interesting to see what you would get if on WiFi only. LTE kills me.

I go over a day when I'm home on the Saturdays when I haven't got appointments all day and when I work at home on Wednesdays. I have to plug in at work on the days when I go into work or on the Saturdays and Sundays that I'm in and out of WiFi.

Lunchtime/midday results. Shortly after the last update I did about a minute of Facebook, 30 seconds of Twitter, and checked baseball scores on Score. No emails in that timespan. Another note is that I have not received a single text all morning.
