    Hi,

I installed almost all of the thank you gifts from the app world, and when the app asked for security permissions I just accepted the defaults. I then found out that I allowed them access to my email, and am wondering should I worry about this, I don't think that the apps would snoop would they?

I don't think you have much to worry about. Apps shouldn't request more permissions than they need, and users shouldn't grant permissions that don't make sense, (why would a flashlight app need to access your address book, for a hypothetical example?) but I've installed apps and granted the requested permissions for years and never had a problem. Of course, getting away with something 500 times doesn't make it any less risky the 501st time you try it. See "The Challenger Launch Decision" by Diane Vaughan, who coined the phrase "the normalization of deviance" to describe the gradual acceptance of risk in the continued absence of negative consequences.
