I am furious that Apple is impeding my switch from my iPhone4 to the Blackberry Q10 and basically forcing me to choose between not getting group texts for 45 DAYS or keeping the iPhone (or purchasing new iPhone.) The problem is that I noticed I was not receiving groups texts. We isolated the problem to group texts with anyone who has me saved as a contact and if even one iPhone is part of the group text then I won't get it. I've been working with Verizon on the problem for a week because I really want to keep my Q10 and today we talked to a specialist at Apple who said that even though we've deactivated iMessage from my old iPhone and from my Apple ID, it takes 45 days for the Apple system to fully expunge my codes and before I'll start receiving (reliably -- I do get some, not most) group texts. The other choices -- switch to a new phone number (not an option for me); delete my Apple ID and lose access to every item I've ever purchased (I was willing to do this if it would solve the problem...but Apple said they could try it but no guarantees); switch carriers (again -- not guaranteed ATT wouldn't have same problem since it's not a network issue); have everyone who has ever saved me as a contact delete me and re-enter me from scratch (not an option -- I have 1560 business contacts); or have everyone who might one day send me a group text turn off their "iMessage" feature (ridiculous); OR just concede and buy and iPhone. I can't believe that Apple is allowed to basically hijack my texts for 6 weeks -- this has to be against the law -- against fair trade -- violation of monopoly rules. (I'm working with my Congressman's office to find out.) And, I bet every other Droid maker would be very interested to know what Apple is doing. SO CRACKBERRY FRIENDS -- AM I MISSING SOMETING? IS THERE SOME WORK-AROUND THAT VERIZON AND APPLE HAVE NOT DISCLOSED OR FIGURED OUT? IS IT ONLY A PROBLEM FOR THE Q10, WOULD A DROID NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM (VERIZON STORE EMPLOYEES SAID THEY HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH NEW GALAXY USERS -- BUT IT FIXED ITSELF ONCE THEY DELTED IMESSAGE FROM THE OLD PHONE.) SUGGESTONS WELCOME! Iphone5 was going to be my back-up in case I didn't like the Q10 (I love Apple products -- until now) -- but now I'm more determined than ever never to spend another dime on an Apple product. THANKS.

First of all welcome to the crackberry forums mpress23,

I'm very sorry to hear about your troubles, but it's a little outside of my wheelhouse.. I don't have any experience with imessage. I know we did have a blog post last week about a similar issue and removing the service from your apple ID, but if I understand it correctly it seems your problem might run deeper then that. Let me email this one out to the other ambassadors and see if anyone else can be of more help.

Thanks Just_Luc -- Yes, already removed iMessage from Apple ID...but still doesn't work. Apple said it will take 45 days to start working. Verizon says its not a network problem. I just looked at Apple support's forum - there are literally hundreds of comments about this problem going back to 2011 (so far -- haven't read them all) and not limited to Blackberry but other Droids too. I can't believe they can get away with this? Maybe someone out there knows a fix and can help educate us.

    Try this.....

Apple doesn't want to let customers return to BlackBerry easily | CrackBerry.com

    Follow these steps
Tell them to go to: https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do
Log in with their Apple ID.
    Click on “edit products”
Click on the “x” to the right of the product.
    Click “unregister”

Thanks for sending the article -- Tried the fix in the article a few days ago, and again today -- still doesn't work. Never even showed my iPhone to begin with in the list but I unchecked everything there (just an old iPod)

WOW! I'd never heard of this problem before and it's really one of the most annoying things I've read about Apple. I'm a BB fanboy, however I do own Apple products, but this right here makes me sick. I hate the fact that these big companies can bully/push us around. 45Days is absolutely absurd; and there is no doubt in my mind that its a tact to keep you plugged into the Apple matrix. I'm willing to be part of your support group to wait it out for the 45Days if you decide to (i'd try that just off of principle.) Shame on them for that.

They really do a good job at keeping people plugged into that whole Apple Matrix, via itunes, accessories, etc. Here I was naive thinking that they'd prefer to try and win someone over simply by providing a better product, not by trickery.

If I found out BB was doing something similar I'd be equally as upset.
