With 4.3 installed I went and downloaded 4.5 and it deleted my shortcut for Dm on my computer now i have nothing.
Do you have a BlackBerry folder under Start/Programs? Just drag the program icon from there to your desktop with your right mouse button and select Create Shortcut.

So, after reading this post, I can't really see any huge advatage to it, and it doesn't seem to be working for everyone. What am I missing? Why take the risk when 4.3 is working just fine??

well, it's offical from RIM..but seems to be working fine for me..
Media manager is so slow, I think worse than the previous version. I thought this was going to work with iTunes? Other than that, it seems to be the same, just slower overall.
Sounds like you downloaded the version without Media Manager. Just go back to the download page and download the version with Media Manager, uninstall your current version, and install the correct one.
EDIT^^^ Haaa, I should read all posts before answering, lol.
Actually, the new DM does minimize to the system tray. There is a new field in the Options menu. Check the box and when you minimize it, it goes to the system tray. Nice.
There's not much to say about it. Merely a cosmetic upgrade, as I said before. If you want to know more, just download and install it. If it doesn't work for you, just untistall and go back to 4.3.

I accidently installed the one without media manager
Take a breath dude. Your problem is a simple one and I did it myself at first. You only installed the Device Manager 4.5 and need to install the bundle. Go back to the site and download this one:
Blackberry Desktop Software 4.5.0 bundle 16 English - (With or without media manager, your choice)
And you can still put media on your phone if you have a media card. just enable Mass Storage Mode, locate the media folders for your BB on your PC, and drag-n-drop your media into the folders.
