I use visual voicemail on T Mobile USA and it works great on OS10.
Same here on tmobile and the passport on 10.3.1

Many have it turned on by default, sends you an SMS with the spoken text, but only about ten seconds.
Is that Visual Voicemail, the thing you are talking about?
I wish it would do more, haven't bothered asking them yet, that's why I still use regular voicebox...

OK so a text message with the voice to text translation?
Visual voicemail doesn't translate voice to text. It just shows you who has left the message for you to listen to.
Have at&t. It basically just automatically downloads the message. Then you can listen to the message and go back and forth and play and pause in the message like any audio file. And you don't have to call to get the messages they download automatically
I love it on my q10. It's a great feature to have, but it does not work on my unlocked z30 meaning the there is no option to turn it on.

Many carriers provide speech to text as an option - usually at an extra cost. Verizon isn't one of them.

On att you have to have it as part of your service. I have a z30 and it works great
I have it on Rogers and provides me with text as well as the option to hit play and listen to it right from the hub. I can't remember the last time I've ever dialed into voice-mail. It is an awesome feature.

Have on AT&T. I like I can finally send a voice mail via text.

How good are the speech to text conversions?
I've used Google voice, nexiwave and magic jack, and they were all fairly useless for accuracy. Nexiwave was absolute garbage.

Bummer, I have speech to text on my android with Verizon, was hoping the blackberry visual would also
Just for the record, I got premium visual vm through Verizon on my z30 and I do get speech to text. Not a text msg, but actual text conversion right in the hub. Very cool.

Yeah, none of them are perfect. Especially since in my experience, a large number of people seem to speak 5x as fast as they normally do when they leave a voicemail, which makes accuracy more difficult. Usually though, they're good enough to at least give you a very good idea of what the message contains, so you can decide for yourself whether it's worth the time to listen to the message.
Sometimes it can go very wrong though. The worst accuracy gaff I have experienced, was a few years ago. My father had recently come home from a long hospital stay where he was combating congestive heart failure. A week or so later, I get a speech to text conversion that said "Hey, it's Dad. Call as soon as you can. It's about all over." Since my father had just spent time in the hospital, I absolutely freaked! I call back immediately expecting the worst. It turns out, the message was actually supposed to be "Hey, it's Dad. Call as soon as you can. It's about Oliver." As it turns out, I was putting in some serious overtime with my job, so my parents were dog-sitting my dog Oliver, who had managed to sneak out of their house and they were out looking for him.
I get some goofy ones too, yours was a scary mishap!
How did you censor that?
