I tried downloading from maps.blackberry.com from my Curve and it says that the browser doesn't support Active X. How can I install it. I tried from the Desktop and although it says it's installed, I don't see it anywhere on my Curve (8310).
Thanks...
Google maps FTW!

I don't like the maps app. I don't like it because I don't have GPS in my blackberry I guess.

Google maps are way better !

I use BB maps with my bluetooth gps so this way I don't use my data plan. It works perfectly with my BB 8130.
I don't get your reply.
A GPS doesn't use the data network. BB maps DOES use the data network. It's not like the maps are loading on your device. As your GPS updates your position, the map segments BB needs is downloaded using your data plan.
As you can see at BlackBerry - BlackBerry Maps the last feature listed has an * and that asterisk states:
* Data plan required. Check your service provider for availability.
i dont like it as much as i like Google Maps. i think ima uninstall it
i too have bb maps and google but how do you delete telenav .i won't pay for it
I must be missing something. I have found that when you turn GPS on under Maps, it automatically pans. But when I ask for directions from point a to point b, i have to pan the map manually. Is there a way to make it pan automatically?
are referring to BM???
BB maps was awesome until I tried google maps.
There was just so much more information available. Directions, phone number, reviews, etc!
Much mOre robust app in google maps.
They did some upgrade to that allowed for voice control. (but I never really tried it out)

I have to admit that Telenav is very good. It's all about the turn-by-turn. To be able to just speak in it or just pull up your Contact list with addresses and map to it. It seems $10/month is worth it. Although, I would prefer free, it's pretty darn good!
it says I don't meet the requirements....yet I have the bold running on v4.6, why?
I downloaded this om my 8130, wouldn't work, network error??? I noticed they didn't have AllTel as a option so i picked other. Any help on how to get this to work???????
I like BB maps a lot. I've tried lots of other programs and i seam to always come back to BB maps. I've tried Goggle maps but i can never get it to track me. It just finds cell towers. I also tried Live Search with the same results.
I have the same problem on my 8330, google maps can't acces the GPS. I understand that verizon recently unlocked the GPS on the curve and pearl; anyone know if/when google maps will be able to take advantage of this?
That said, yes I do love BB maps. :-)

Right now, it's only unlocked for BB maps. Verizon's BS explanation for not unlocking it for Google Maps was that they wanted to ensure a consistent user experience and hadn't approved the software. They couldn't really make that case for BB maps, given that it comes with the device and is from BlackBerry, so they unlocked it.
It's all BS--they want you to ante up for Verizon Navigator.
They'll be doing it with their new weather service, too.
i just buy a blackberry 8320 ( i love it) coming fro a palm w650 what the difference , i got some question about navigation TeleNav
where do i get and what the best one.
Thank you

I prefer BB maps to MapQuest or Google Maps simply because it works faster with less time spent waiting for it to unfreeze. It GPS tracks me as I follow the directions which has been extremely useful after I moved to a completely different side of town. It searches for local businesses by name or category with ease and has not let me down yet. Well, I do have a problem getting the "track me" function to continue following me if i update the zoom level or switch to another app (like changing the track on my music). I have to stop tracking and then re start it, which is inconvenient while driving.
The only major change I would recommend to BB Maps is to allow a web interface like the others. I like to plan my trips on my laptop if I have advance notice, but have to do it using another map service and hope BB Maps uses the route (which is normally does).
It would be so convenient for BB Maps to have a web interface where I can sign in and save locations/directions. Once I plan my route it could then allow me to email or SMS the directions or location to the app on my phone. Or, simply allow us to plan and save a trip online under or User ID. Since the BB Maps app would provide the opportunity to sign in (like other apps), you should be able to just simply load the pre-planned trip.
This personalized account could also be linked with our favorite traffic and weather servers to allow the "layers" function to work as planned. If I could find an app that would let me personalize it that much, and still accurately locate and track me, I would pay for it. Especially a RIM app since they are obviously the best at making apps that fully integrate with my phone, and do not drain the battery. (The difference in battery drain between Uber Twitter and RIM's new Twitter for BlackBerry is dramatically noticeable.
These are just recommendations. I still prefer this app to any other map apps I have tried.
