when i hit address book i cant just type in a letter and it shows meeveryone whos name begins with that letter. i have to type in the first two letters of the name and then it goes to everyone with those two letters in their name.... its nothing bad, it just annoys me very badly!
mine is a 7100i....... i swear it is the most annoying thing in the world, especially since every phone i have had for the past 10 years have all been just one letter and im on the page with all my contacts begining with that letter.......... someone tell me how to fix it, i feel like the only poor soul who suffers from this!!
the phone is only 2 months old and has the newest software. i dont think pulling the battery will help either because it has did it since day one, and the battery has been pulled a few times since then
I could be wrong here, but this may be a SureType issue. It seems that those with SureType models are having this issue. I can't remember how it worked on my Pearl.
is sure type where it tries to guess what you want? if so i hate that feature and i turned it off!
navilyn, what is content protection and how do i turn it off?
tmag. i dont think it is a malfunction that they would replace it for... i think it is something RIM designed into my device to annoy the he!! out of me with!
SureType is the style of keyboard you have where 2-letters are assigned to each key. The BB predicts what word you are typing. It actually works pretty good. The secret is not to watch the screen as you type. Wait until you are finished and you'll see most of it is right.
If you wat to disable it, open up a message like you are going to compose an email, then go to options. I can't remember the exact phrase it says, but you should see something like Enabale MultiTap or something.
yeah i turned off multi tap the day i got it.... the suretype was what i was not sure of what it meant. i dont think the suretype has anything to do with it though because my fiance has a 7100g and hers only needs one letter and it shows all teh contacts.
Go to Options / Security / General Settings / Content Protection - but to be honest if you don't know where it is, you probably did not change it in the first place, thus it's still at it's default...
