    I updated some apps today and I saw the message from android player from RIM. It wanted to access certain areas of my phone. What is android player by RIM?

    It's what runs your android apps. It's kind of like an emulator for android apps but runs rather well. It's requesting access and it might request them a couple more times nothing to worried about
