Am I the only one who thinks the back door of the 9700 is extremely ugly

What does it matter? Very rarely does a user ever see the back of the phone, or at least I know I don't. If you do then I don't think you're using it correctly.

I would actually prefer the 8900 back if it wasn't creaky. But the problem with a
smooth back is that it slips out of my palm too much. The faux leather is good for
my palm.

It is garbage - I agree. The Tour one is much nicer. The fake leather worked on the 9000 but not on the 9700 where it is framed in plastic and has the ugly "Bold" logo.

Hideous! I don't understand how some can call fake leather "classy" That's what I call cheesy, if it was real leather it could maybe be called classy, but would probably still look cheesy. I'm glad they left that stuff off of the 9650.

People complain about the stupidest crap... If it had an ugly battery door, why did you buy it? Or better yet, do something about it instead of complaining. They do make aftermarket covers you know.

I would. I would never let something like how a battery door looks stop me from purchasing the device that I considered to be the best choice in the lineup, and it looks like the op made the same choice I would have.
