    Hi,

    Nice forum this.

Can anybody tell me if there is an alternative to Telenav for GPS nav on the 8800? I don't want to pay the reacurring costs they want and the BB Maps software that comes with doesnt give me all the functionality that the Telenav does, like voice and 3d mapping.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to Crackberry.com! You can try Infospace FindIt!, it will probably be the closest thing to what you are looking for.

Thankyou for that. However, it seems to be US only, I am in the UK, England in fact.

I installed it and it asks me for a Zip code, here we call that a post code, and cannot find me when I attempt the find my location option.

Ahhh... sorry. I'm not familiar with any other free GPS software that has voice commands.

I take it there are no options in there to change countries? Also, just for the heck of it, enter a zip code of 30036. Does it give you any info?

I have be using mapquest's telenav, I have trying to find the link for you but I have not had much luck so far. It seems to be free, and it has voice prompts.

I have a Verizon 8830 arriving on Wednesday. Will the 8800 version software work on the 8300, or will I need to wait for them to release a specific version?

    Thanks

I've been using Nav4All for the last couple of weeks. Works quite nicely and is free.

I have been using Nav4All also. It has a few drawbacks, but you can put in GPS coordinates, which some GPS programs don't allow. It also has voice prompts, but doesn't show the map when that is in action. It just shows arrows on which way to turn. I've used it a few times when I didn't have my normal GPS with me.

Although I have had my 8800 for some time I have never used the web or GPS (I am on T-Mobile in UK) do I have to go to T Mobile to subscribe?
