I don't see them monetizing BBM anytime soon if ever. This is free advertising (not counting the development cost of cross platform BBM). Whether it translates into people giving a look to BlackBerry hardware is anyone 's guess.

Agree, free advertising and perhaps restoring some credibility in the brand. if and when channels are I introduced, it may bring in decent revenue. Who knows...

Also, in the event the company is sold for parts then a spun of BBM with a big user base might have a huge value.
I'm sure WhatsApp and kik messenger both have an intrinsic value even though they are not monetized. Something like Hotmail, Skype etc.
This could also be BlackBerry trying to hedge their bets and maximise value for shareholders if the company is indeed sold in parts.

The OP has no comparison to the Q10 sellout claims. Those claims were made by BlackBerry (presumably as part of marketing) . The OPs comment is purely anecdotal and based on his/her own observation of various social feeds.

I've noticed you making quick, short rants in many threads which is fine, if it's what you feel like doing, but at least try to make some kind of logical sense. That way you can avoid sounding, well, silly.
