9700 Wifi, data package, apps and email questions

hello everybody, my name is CheapBastard lol. so i have a plan with tmobile that has no data package. I got it because I have wifi everywhere i go. literally everywhere. so i thought everything would work the same as if i were connected to tmobiles 3g network, but so far have been shut down on a few fronts and am looking for a bit of help.

(For Blackberry Bold 9700)
1) I want a gmail app that will alert me when i get a new email and allow me to read it. Under the phones setup wizard it only lists blackberry enterprise email, strange.

2)will i have problems with the majority of apps that require internet? do they not want to allow use over wifi?

3) is there a way to set up my school email to get alerts on my cellphone? they use pop email on outlook. my buddy with the bb storm has it working but he has the data package so im not sure.

please let me know if you have any advise, and if there are guides for these things please post them

2. a lot of apps require a data package so you will be out of luck
3. without a data plan you cant have any bis email... sorry

I was unable to use the gmail app on my blackberry with wifi only and the wireless radio turned off. Not sure why that was because push email still worked.

I also didn't have a need for google maps (walked everywhere) so I don't know if that app would have worked with wifi only.

Otherwise, besides not receiving voice calls (or visual voicemail) it was just like being connected to 3G.
