I'm a Tmobile customer and have had the Curve 8900 for the past two years.
My contract is up so the top selections, for me, are the new HTC HD7, the MyTouch 4G and the BlackBerry Bold 9780.

Is it worth it to upgrade from the 8900 to the Bold 9780?
The 8900 has had off and on glitches after I updated it to OS 5.

I tried the 9780 at a local Tmobile store and didn't like the keyboard as much as the 8900. But that could be just a matter of me getting used to it.
I have often tried the touchscreen keyboards but so far I can't stand them.
So for me the Bold is in the running.

    Thanks

I went from 8900 to a 9700. You'll grow into the keyboard, in a few days or so. You'll be banging out emails, & such like never before. -$

It takes a lil' bit of adjustment, but practice with the Bold's keyboard will bring nice results. I went from 8330 to Tour and it took about a month to get used to it, partly because I had a case that interfered with the edge keys. After I ditched the case, smooth as silk.

I had an 8900 and am now on a 9300 (by force). I love the keyboard and with the exception of the 9650, have yet to find a keyboard I like better. The texture of the keys is awesome on the 9650, but I like the click and movement of the 8900, though.

I imagine you'll get used to it, though.

Aside from the keyboard is it worth upgrading from 8900 to the 9780?

    Thanks

The chief advantages for me going from the 8900 to the 9700 were the trackpad instead of the trackball and 3G. I'm not sure what's coming up for TMO as far as new BB releases, but I would say that you should be pleased with the difference.
BTW, the 9780 was not enough different to make me upgrade from the 9700, so I can't speak to the 9780 from personal experience.

If you can get used to the keyboard, then it's certainly worth the upgrade. Generally speaking most people like the trackpad better and the minimal upgrade to everything else plus the option for 6.0 will be worth a couple weeks in "training" on the keyboard.

In short speak... Yes it is a better device you'll truly enjoy. I worked at Tmo when they were carrying the 8900 and it was imo the best curve to date (besides 3g) and I have a 9700 and would upgrade from 8900 to 9700 in a heartbeat. So the 9780 having more mem. and a better camera, os6 would be a no-brainer for me.

I'm glad I didn't jump to the 9780 though... Now set on the Dakota (drools)

Your effective choices would be cash purchase a 9700 and wait for a more advanced release toward the end of the year, or go 9780 and let it keep you rolling good for a fair period of time. Either the 9700 or 9780 is a fair step up from the 8900. There is a more advanced Curve coming that would give you the familiar keyboard style but give you a whole new level of performance. Or, you could stretch it out with the 8900 until what you want hits T-Mo. Me, I'd opt for the more advanced device any day. I'm just say'n.
