they are getting there, but these things take time (more a case of priorities) but the way i see it is this, its a communication device and phone first, media player second, games 3rd and camera 4th, so it fits me, but they are rumored to be working on phones with over 5Mp cameras with liquid lens, also phones like storm2 have 2Gb built in
compare to iphone, and they havent even figured out multitasking, camera flash, removeable battery, media cards or a camera 5mp+ yet! so from that do i think apple arent stepping up? well no,every model has its core strengths, and not always aimed at the same market sector.
Who has a 5MP camera?
Also, google "Blaclberry + webkit" for your browser question.
And why post this? In addition to the fact there's already a variety of them on this site. Besides, it's like asking why the iPhone doesn't multitask, has a flash, took 3 years to get a video camera, etc.
Oh snap!
And look at it this way, BB can throw a lot of stuff in there but it takes them a lot more consideration on the part of security. How many trojans/viruses are there for the iPhone now?

BlackBerry?

I'm pretty sure the Samsung device is 5 megapix. Omnia II.
there is a webkit browser being developed right now
They don't add all that stuff because the majority of their customers don't require it. Now, the new browser is on it's way, and that will be nice, and sure, it would be nice to have at least 1gb of storage, and hopefully it will come soon, however, those things aren't a necessity for most people. I use my BB as a messaging device, first an foremost, everything else falls after that, so while a webkit browser will be nice, I don't require it, but it'll be great when it gets here, and same with the memory, while more would be nice, I don't need it at the moment, I've got a handful of apps and 116mb free space... I won't fill up the whole 256, and that's the way most of BB's clients are.
That doesn't mean that they shouldn't continue to improve their platform. More memory would be nice, just because, and the webkit browser will be nice to have, but the reason the other devices offer different things is to try to attract your business. If a 5mp camera is something you desire, grab a Droid, and you'll have a nice browser, nice camera, and weaker messaging platform... It's all in what you desire, and what you feel is important.
Because I have a Nokia for all that stuff.
For getting the job done, I use a BlackBerry.
You say figured out, im sure Apple has figured out removable batteries camera flash, and media slash 5 megapixal camera's but as you see all of those features you names and still no device with them has passed the iPhone that has followed it trying to accomplish the samthe e feat in sales that they have. So i dont think its a matter of figuring it out, its more of a matter of they know how to build a device that will sale the same as RIM, people complain about the browser, its speed and truncated emails oh yea and out of date UI but RIM apparently knows what works.
If you google "Blaclberry + webkit" all you get is sometime other than now.
Who has a 5MP camera? Duh, plenty of them. Google that!
the reason they don't "compete" is because the majority of their user base doesn't care... so there's little pressure for RIM to do anything... the typical "business" user doesn't care for a feature rich browsing experience, music, and a modern interface... so guess what? little incentive for RIM to innovate...
Why do so many threads turn into an iphone vs blackberry thread. They are 2 completely different devices, and shouldn't really be compared. That is why I have my iphone sitting next to my berry at this very moment. I use my berry for fun, movies, internet, music, games etc. I use my berry for text, email, bbm, calls. They each have their strengths, and they each have their weaknesses. If I had to make a choice between one or the other, it would be my berry!
I don't think they need to. Whatever they are doing right now they are having a lot of success and enjoying the growth. I'm not saying they don't need to step up their game but their consistency with technology allowed them to stay competitive.
Nokia N97, Samsung Galaxy and Ominia have 5mp cameras but are they doing well here? No, because high pixel camera is a niche market. It might work in asia where Japanese girls love to smile in front of a camera but here in NA it's all about messaging and social networking. That's one area RIM don't lack of and that is what makes Blackberrys so great.
wouldn't it be great if you get all the features in the BB and don't have to lug that Nokia around?
