So. Was upgrading the software on a 9700 over the weekend. User had a password on it. So he entered the password and i went ahead wiping using JL_Cmder (javaloader.exe -usb wipe -a -f ) .

What I don't understand is why after wiping and using loader.exe the phone still prompts for a password.

Even after the new OS is on, after the phone boots up, the first thing it asks for is a password.

    Why does this happen.

That's like formatting a computer and when you reinstall the OS, it asks you for a password.

I noticed this problem on my 9000 as well. After wipe and reinstall, pictures would still remain on the device memory.

Any explanation as to why the phone does not "wipe fully"?

Its a low level wipe, leaves the password, pin and other such BB info, but the pictures are a mystery, try BBSAK but the password will probably stay... Not sure entirely

Enter the password incorrectly 10 times.
