    Hello my crackberry friends...

I was considering getting a 32GB SD Card for my 8330 Curve. The phone has become my ipod and sometimes pandora gets timed out. But I'm really iffy about getting it because I have no idea if it would work properly. Just wondering if anybody has this working completely perfect?? For any BB

I don't think a 32gb micro sd exists. Plus I think the max you can out in a Curv is 16.

This is one of my standard texts and has been posted more than one. It does however explain what is needed and point the OP resources that should facilitate decision making. So if you think you have read this before, you probably have.

You MUST have a microSD card for your BlackBerry. No other type will fit this phone.

I have a SanDisk 16GB Class 4 card in my phone and it works fine.

I wrote a thread on this a while back. Here's the link http://forums.crackberry.com/f2/micr...c-cards-46673/. The bottom lines are:
    - microsdHC starts at 2Gb below that, they are just microSD

    - microSDHC cards come in 3 classes:
    Class 2 : >=2MB/s TV recording / DVD/ standard DC
    Class 4 : >=4MB/s Mpeg2 (HDTV)/ DC with continuous shooting option
Class 6 : >=6MB/s Reflex DC and professional DC - on continuous shooting
All three cards playback more or less ate the same speed. The key here is the WRITE speed. Class 4 is faster than Class 2 and Class 6 is fastere at writing data than both Classes 2 and 4. The higher classes cost more money.

    - Class 2 cards work fine in Blackberrys but some report smoother video playback with Class4
    - Class 4 cards go quicker when transferring data and above 4Gb this really starts to matter
    - Class 4 or 6 is not available above 16Gb today
    - With SanDisk cards, if you buy BULK packaged, you do not get a warranty from SanDisk. You get the warranty with the Bulk vendor
    - Retail Packaged SanDisk cards are ALWAYS so marked and these carry a SanDisk warranty. They cost a little bit more.
    - The Retail Packaged SanDisk cards usually come with a USB adapter.
    - Not all USB adapters will work with hi-capacity cards obviously the ones SanDisk supply work with the card in the box.
    - Beware of 32Gb cards made from 4x8Gb. Ths will certainly be unreliable.
    - Check the SanDisk site to see when 32Gb cards hit the market. Then buy one.

Here's a table of what microSD card sizes the various BlackBerry Operating Systems support.
BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.0 Up to 2 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.1 Up to 4 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.2 Up to 4 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.3.0 Up to 8 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.5.0 Up to 8 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.5.0.81 and later Up to 16 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.6.0 and later Up to 32 GB

There is already a thread about the release, or lack of, the 32gb microSD (http://forums.crackberry.com/f2/why-...-gives-287061/), but the OP's question is whether his Curve can handle this memory card.

That's a tough question to answer here considering that SanDisk, or anyother for that matter, has yet release a 32gb microSD, but the good news is they are soon to come. Some websites (outside of North America) are allowing customers to pre-order them now.

For example: SanDisk MicroSD Card - 32GB

Toshiba has said they will release a 64gb microSD in the first quarter of 2010.

I have read on some sites that SanDisk was going to release this 32gb in June, but pushed it back for the fall and here we are in the fall and still no 32gb on the market. Maybe they're holding out for the christmas season?

The real excitement is the talk of the soon to come 2 Terabyte SDXC memory card, which is just "on the horizon." Now can you imagine all that storage space on your device?

I just checked their Web site. Those 32GB are SD, not microSD. The biggest microSD are 16GB.

looks relatively legit to me. the guy has 100% positive feedback. he may be snagging them from China straight off the manufacturing line. I say go for it, but only knowing you may have to go through a dispute process.

Not really. A lot of people use their berries as their mp3 player. I hook mine up in my car everytime I drive and would love to have more than 16gb of memory I currently have. Plus when I fly I easily fill it up with movies and music. My 8900 has 8bg and storm has 16gb

Agreed. If the 32gb were readily available and priced reasonably (they will not be at first), I would grab one to give me slightly more space than my aging 30gb iPod Photo. I snagged a 16gb card from newegg for just over $40. With a little thought and effort, I can get most of my favorite tunes on there, plus a few movies. I'll enjoy that for a while until the 32gb come down in price.

Interesting. I checked the link lalawrie posted and went to their store. They have 10 up for auction at the moment. Five available at Buy It Now for $88.oo with free shipping. I'll have to keep my eye on one.
I'd like to see a screenie of one installed verifying it's actual capacity though

good grief a 32gb card sounds like overkill.
Not as much as you would think. My 30gb mp3 player is almost full, and $90.oo spent would be one heck of a way to back it up before it decides to die. Which may be soon judging by the way it's acting lately. Plus, where can you get a 30gb mp3 player for under $100.oo that won't croak fast? My Crackberry may soon turn into my fulltime player, lol.

Found this thread after searching. Couple questions from a newbie:

    1. Anyone bought a 32GB card for the 9850 yet? How is it working for you?

    2. The 4GB of flash memory...is that the 'application memory' that I am used to seeing on my Storm 9530? If you have a 9850/60, how is the 4GB working out for you?

    Thanks for any information.
