You also need to be on a Q10 or a Z30. Not sure about the Q5, but definitely not available on the Z10.

Absolutely works on the Q5. Z10 is the only phone left out, sadly.

Real enjoyment of local FM channels on Z30. Sound quality is so good. It is wonderful addition in 10.2.1.1055 leak. FM is not working on Z10 STL-1.

One of the chips in the phone has an actual FM tuner in it. It has to be activated and the antenna needs to be connected to the chip. On the OS10 phones that support it, they have enabled the FM tuner and the antenna is connected to the headphone socket. When you try to use the radio, it prompts you to plug in headphones for it to work as they are used for the antenna.

The FM tuner is an important addition for countries were there is not unlimited data to stream internet radio. Even in more developed countries like Canada Some of the older BlackBerry phones had this option as well. We didn't see this in North America, because the carriers would rather sell you the data to stream the radio/music via your data plan. Similar to how some carriers blocked BlackBerry maps on the old phone so you could buy their third party mapping service.

I've installed the 10.2.01 + radio os for my z10. I do not see anything radio related in the music app. Is it not possible on theZ10 as some have posted?

Quite frankly speaking I don't consider having a wifi radio "high tech" but to each his own. I quite happy using an app like Songaz or Tunein maybe just me.

I was told by a user of the moto g that having the FM Radio was essential to his listening of sports. Don't really get it, but I guess people who want it aren't willing to deal with the timme delay inherent to Internet radio streaming.

Z10 actually does have the hardware for it.
Google it Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960

On qualcomm own website it says Fm support. Stl 1 has it but it hasn't been enabled for them . For stl 2 3. And 4 ppl were speculating about hardware but if you see qualcomm own site says otherwise
