    I've said this before, but I thought I'd bring it up again and see what people thought.

    I don't know what the folks at BBM have planned, but I've been thinking for a while that I would love to have an instagram, or Facebook account that was far more private...say, an account that required a pin for people to see, instead of a totally exposed Google search.

    So, here is my question: who here would love BBM to expand into a broader social network platform - something like a private Facebook and instagram combined? BB could still make money through ads, and people could migrate slowly to a better, more secure and private sort of 'Facebook' that they have complete control of.

    I would love that, and hope to see something like this in the future. Am I the only one??

    That's really getting off the reservation there. The money and time it would take to build BBM into that would be better spent trying to stabilise and improve the company overall as opposed to making a wannabe Facebook clone.

    That sounds a bit like BlackBerry thinking. I certainly wasn't talking about that happening next week. I remember people calling Facebook the equivalent if a MySpace clone lol. Thanks for your response though. I'm not sure if you answered the question at all.

    Actually, BBM Channels can easily become a more private version of most popular social media sites... I would argue that it is better than Facebook and Instagram right now and only needs tweaking to allow for video posting...

    I'll be honest. I actually haven't got a clue about BBM Channels. I'll check it out. Is it a live thing, or just a beta thing for now?
