Over the past few days, there were some fake BlackBerry Messenger applications showing up in Google Play for Android users. As we all know that these applications forces the user to download other games or applications, 5 star rate for the application and asking for all the permissions in the phone. So here I am writing this post as a heads up for all of you who are eagerly waiting for the official application to pop up in the store.

Find in the picture below 2 of the fake apps along with an official app from BlackBerry. As far as my digging goes, I came to know that the official developer name for the real BlackBerry company is BlackBerry Limited which already have few applications in the store including BES10 Client (Which is not BBM but a client for BES10 Server). So be aware and notice the difference between the fake and real applications based on the developer name as it is in the following picture.



Update: Another way to tell a fake app from an official one is by scrolling to the bottom of the application screen as you will find some information about the developer as shown in the 2 examples below
