    Once again, I'm bluffed.
From Kenya, Africa using wifi with bigBadBen (CAN) ... wonderful and fluid video and sound.
Then, I wanted to test over 3G (African Safaricom network) and I called my friend David in Paris. Image was slightly pixilated (won't be suitable for a dance demo lol) but sound still christal clear and no drop.

    People that do keep moving?
    Oh yeah Babe!

I asked the person in my house who went to Kenya to take my spare PlayBook so we could vid chat. He refused saying he didn't want to deal with more electronics. I would have liked to try it. He had limited, and expensive WiFi. Although I was willing to pay for the bandwidth.

Just curious, as I'm a Muslim in the USA.
The reason for blocking BBM Video in UAE, is for what exactly?

I'm assuming it has something to do with the religion or...?

One would hope that like the Berlin Wall, this type of behaviour by governments will fall and allow people to communicate freely!

It will happen, history has shown that time and time again!

Nowt to do with being Muslim or anything.
The local telcos make crazy money by overcharging people for calls.
Majority of the population are expats and have family abroad. It's big money.
So they block every way that cash cow could dry up. Skype, BBM voice/video, it's all blocked.
There are workarounds of course, but it's often a big hassle.

It's nothing to do with religion.
It's pure greed and exploitation, one of the big reasons to try avoiding the Middle East if you can.

Yup BBM video and voice blocked even over wifi.
Keep in mind there's only two carriers providing all phone and broadband connections.

Wondering how they can handle that w/ BB10 (no BIS) ... pretty hard work to split the packets (just curious). Can try if you're BB10... PM me your PIN

I grew up there...was extremely frustrating now that I think about it since everything is "regulated". Now they use security as the new reason for not allowing VoIP. The funny thing is my wife was able to use Face Time over wifi while she was there but the other folks in her family didn't even have the Face Time app on their iPhones since they had purchased them from there.

Glad to know that the BBM voice/video quality is superb. I'm sure this will become the new standard...
