Last week I took a trip from Canada to Australia for a wedding. Before I left Canada, I purchased a 100MB travel pack. I was away for for exactly one week (7 days).

Whilst in Australia I used BBM constantly and always checked my emails and social feeds via BBHUB. I used BBM to send many photos including HD photos during this time.

To my surprise my data usage for this period was 51MB. (half my travel pack)

It amazes me that I can use my phone as usual and incur only 51MB of data use in one week.

Now, there must be an explanation for all this...

    1. BB10 must shut off non essential data communication when roaming?
    2. BlackBerry must compress data when roaming?
    3. BBM must compress photos whilst roaming?

If this is true, why didn't I know about these features already??

CB Team: Perhaps an article indicating what is going on behind the scenes would be a good idea?

Strange. I got a $50 data roaming bill for turning on my data by accident for 20 minutes in Germany this summer. BB10 really compresses nothing. But BBM uses very litte data, and if you didn't do web/email, and only BBM, that could explain it.

Or, the. au carrier hasn't yet billed your home. ca carrier for 100% of your use.

Data has been billed in full as 'RIM Data'. Carrier is Bell.
