I would let things settle down before judging. The network is probably pushed to the limit now cause they are probably only allowing the maximum activation possible at a certain point in time.

Only tried it with one person on Android and it's smooth as butter as far as delivery. But I can't see their profile pic and they can't see mine.
Any thoughts

No, that is not possible, because, as I said, he was BBM'ing someone else during the hours that mine were not delivered.
Someone always have to *****...i wonder if you really do use BBM? BBM remains reliable for me and is far more sophisticated an application that WhatsApp. I live in Australia using Z10 and my brother in NJ with SIII BBM and I have no issues with him...real-time chat. You in America having issues - considering that every scenario is different.
Pull your head in mate...
I have had no problems with reliability so far probably just to do with their network connection.
I've noticed a bit of lag from when it's sent to it's delivered. A minute or so.
Plus mine is force closing the app when I send a pic. But that seems due to the 7.0.3 update.
I have Trillian running on my desktop with Google Talk connected. If I watch one of my overseas Android contacts, I'll see it log out for an instant and then back in a second later like it drops from the network and comes back on. If I log in to Google Talk with an alternate account of my own from my BlackBerry and watch it on the Trillian client, it never does this the way my overseas contact does many times a day. I've always attributed it to that contact's spotty connection, and often wondered if it has an effect on message reliability. Maybe what's happening with all these devices is something similar?
Constant issues with my my Moto X and HTC - I can send BBMs and they wont appear on the Androids until I wake it up.
Give it time to get it stable, they are activating about 500k an hour @BBM, new people starts adding contacts BBMing all functions (messages, pictures, etc) just to try it out so the first days will be hard on the network, after the people get to a normal use everything will be smooth.
I added my first android contact and the messages had a lag of about 30 secs to a minute, a couple of hours later it started to run quick as hell.
Patience, there will also be bugs and things that they will have to address fast and I'm sure this time they will do.
I'm sure this has more to do with the shear mass volume of sign-ups and new traffic than it does with the app's overall stability or reliability. Give it a week or two until the "shine" wears off, and then we can look at and focus on any reliability issues.
I have been using it, cross-platform from my z30 to both my girlfriend and my best friend (who each have iphones) with no issues whatsoever. I've sent voice notes and pictures to both, and both received them in an instant.
No issues to report here, whatsoever.
Three friends on iPhones added me to BBM today and one friend on Android. I have a 9900 (sad, but it's all that's offered at work). I can BBM the Android fine, but no messages will send to the iPhones. What's even more weird is that I can receive messages from the iPhones, just can't send. I just get a big red X. If I try to send a picture, it says "Interrupted" and fails
Here's normal

the scanner in 'join groups' absolutely refuses to work properly for me.. and it's not my phone, cuz my other scanner programs work fine.. but in BBM it just takes a fuzzy picture and wastes my time, lol (I'm using Android version)
It might take some time to update. When I added my iPad Mini account to my Z10 account, my picture wasn't showing on either. But now it's showing.
BBM seems to be working with everyone that's downloaded it so far, but for some reason, it's stuck on setting up on my friend's HTC One S. THAT'S disappointing to me :/
10 million new users in the first 24 hours. How many examples of that are there? It may not be unprecedented, but for an app to log that many new users in such a short time frame, and tie them all in across three completely different platforms..... maybe it is unprecedented. Regardless, I seriously doubt that any app which has launched to such demand managed to do it without any hiccups/glitches/kinks whatsoever.
I don't approach ANY device or product with the venom that users of other platforms reserve for BlackBerry. It's seriously disturbing to witness.
How about we all relax, take a breath, wait until there is no longer a line-up to get the FREE app, give the system a chance to take a breath as well, then decide what is or isn't wrong with the system?
Off topic, but sometimes my accounts are delayed up to 15 minutes. Sometimes they are instant. That's Gmail and Yahoo. My EAS account is instant.
And what about all the other people in this thread saying they're having similar issues?
Um, that's my personal confidence level. As in what I think. And I think it's pretty high, given BlackBerry's track record of dismal failure.
No one I know has experienced any of these sorts of issues, and pretty much everyone who used other platforms has immediately switched to BBM. Rock solid is what BBM is.

Yeah? With 10 million downloads, many (most?) of which aren't active yet (wait list), this is "great demand"? So they were never prepared for more than 10 million users? So they are certainly not prepared to ever be anything like WhatsApp then, with 350 million? OK, got it. I agree.
Good thing they won't succeed then, since they clearly aren't prepared for success if they can't handle the load now.
Tried to convert my iOS using sister to xBBM. We both got it installed. Sent messages to each other. That was last night - about 12 hours ago. They still haven't arrived. I think she thinks I'm an ***** for even trying this.
And what about all the other people in this thread claiming similar issues?
You never have anything good to say about BlackBerry. I view this story with extreme skepticism.
BBM chat again abruptly cut short with iOS friend. Continued chat seamlessly on Whatsapp, and his first question is, "Why did I bother downloading that crap?"
Well done, BlackBerry, well done...
