Maybe this will finally solve the delayed notifications and slow as hell file transfers between users.

Its clear that only BB10 devices will enjoy the privilege of being on Canadian servers in Waterloo/wherever, which asks the question when would they move their own stacks up in the cloud.

Seems a positive sign & kinda indicates Emtek has made enough money by spamming its users with ads on BBM.

This was the last straw for me. Just messaged my last 2 friends using BBM that I've moved over to Signal, then disabled the app. Sad day.

Yeah, I just needed something small like the complete sell-off of consumer BBM and the movement of all the servers and data from Canada to Asia. A small matter really, I don't know why I'm complaining, I shouldn't worry about my privacy at all. I don't know what came over me. After all, if you don't do anything wrong then you have nothing to worry about.

I keep forgetting that all the dear people I interact with on CrackBerry are secret agents for whom a data leak means the Soviet union takes over and the cold war starts, meaning the death of the American dream, global dictatorship and a world like in 1987. I keep forgetting also that these people are specialists in legal matters, and that they know without the shadow of a doubt that their data is more secure in Canada than in any other part of Asia (??? You don't even know which country??? ) and ESPECIALLY on big, bad Google's servers.

Anyway, I'm out. Signal is great and has better privacy so I'm very happy to finally get rid of BBM.

I hear people talking about BBM's owners. what exactly is the arrangement there? Who is making the actual application? BlackBerry or the other company? Is it just a case of marketing and running the App or are they actually writing the code?

Emtek pretty much owns all aspects of BBM on iOS & Android. The only connection back to BlackBerry was that BBM for those platforms were hosted on BlackBerry servers. Now that last connection is being severed.
