I've read that some people have experienced problems when updating on legacy devices. It's slow, too slow and crashes, to name a few.

Can anyone let me know what's the latest on updating BBM on legacy devices, mainly the 9360?

I really Voice Calls and Channels but don't want it to be slow, crash or any other problem.

Yes the BBM v 8 is still slow. Personally I would stick to the older build.

That's horrible, and stupid of BlackBerry. Why would you release it in a slow state? Moronic.

No one can say that its because of hardware unless other messaging apps are in similar speeds.

That's a shame. I really wanted Voice Calls and Channels.

Can I update to the latest build and go back to a previous version if I want to?

yes, as long as you have the files not sure where blackberry.com/bbm goes these days.
