On bbos I remember being in the Caribbean and with wifi access and WITHOUT a phone plan, I was able to use BBM to contact my family abroad in the USA.
I have since migrated to the USA and now my daughter is unable to do same with a Torch 9810. With a What's App account though and similar situation she is able to contact other family members. This is something Mr Chen should try to resolve in order to regain ground on IM one more time. If the Classic and Windermere are coming later this year I suggest he do what's necessary to return BBM to original.
Surprisingly, she can still call me on BBM voice but she just can't text via BBM. This is one major reason why What's App has gained momentum around the world.

If BBM Voice is working there is no reason why BBM text should not be working as well.

Just re-install BBM from BB World:-
