Well, here is a question that every BBM user might have heard, "why switch to BBM when I have whatsapp?" and the answer there is that you don't need to give them your phone number, just a pin. And they like the idea, but then they come back at me and ask, "why use BBM with its pin when I can use Kik with a username?!?" and this is where I don't have a good comeback. I know that a great selling point is the security of BBM, but let's face it, not everyone is so anal about security. Most of the times I get replies like "In a world of 7billion people, I'm a nobody, they're not going to hack my account when they can hack a celebrities or someone of more importance".

You can try to point out the full package -- BBM messaging, voice, video (coming for iOS and Android). Channels, group chats, BBM groups. The "R" and "D" we love.

There will be some people who just won't give it a try regardless, and we can't do anything about them.

Stickers. So far that's the biggest attention getter. I've had people from all other platforms want those stickers I show them.

Thanks, I missed that one. I'm not to keen on them myself and keep forgetting to mention them.

    Glympse.

Blew some minds with that one.

Yes, but no timeline as yet. For the record, BBM will also be coming to WP "this summer".

At this time last year, BlackBerry said the same about BBM for Android and iOS. Look what happened then.

BBM is coming to Windows Phone by the end of the year.

Great marketing & communication, when their own user base doesn't even know of those features.

I didn't know of that feature since I don't use it. I use BBM for messaging and picture sharing. I live in a place where everyone knows where everything is. If I'm somewhere and I tell someone.... they'll know exactly where it is. but it's good to know that there's more to BBM than what I use it for.

I've used it when we both where the place is.

But so they know when I'll arrive I send them a glympse and they can check in once in awhile to see how far away I am, for example.

Lots of uses i'm sure I haven't thought of yet.

Btw people with capped data are complaining that bbm uses more data than whatsapp. Is that a fact or not?

I can't say, personally. I've never used WhatsApp, since I don't want to give them access to my entire contact database.

But I wonder if those who say BBM uses more data happen to be using features like voice and video calling. Of course those activities would use data. Someone with WhatsApp won't be making video calls.

Someone on ios installed bbm. I sent them a channel invite but they claim it's not available to them. Are channels supported yet on ios? I thought they were...?

They should be. My son has an iPhone and has subscribed to some channels.

And don't forget that the guy whom made KiK was an employee of BlackBerry . So I tell them KiK is a knock off of BBM.

Glympse is not (just) about finding places.
It's really a great feature, and good fun, when 2 or more people who are about to meet, use it.
You should try it out, believe me. Even my iOS BBM friends LOVE it (maybe the only thing they really love about BBM, sigh).
