    When I bbm people with Samsung phones all they get it a little indicator, is there any way to get the phone to ring?

    It would depend on which phone and OS they have, but on my Android 4.3 Samsung I remember setting a ringtone for BBM. I remember because across all of my phones I have used the same ringtone for BBM.

    Have them check under the BBM app's settings.
