I'm talking about the fact that you cannot video chat or have any if the upgrades that IOS or android devices have.

There are two different systems now. The infrastructure is no longer compatible beyond basic messaging.

BBM on iOS and Android is run by Emtek in Indonesia.

I'm not sure what that has to do with my answer - or the topic.

    Geography is irrelevant.

If you don't like the offered product, change messaging app or platform.

But it makes no sense to spend resources developing BBM for the dwindling user base of BB10.

I like the offered product, I just wish that it was more modernized.

Not much point in doing that now, compared to a few years ago the BB10 userbase is much smaller than it was and I doubt many "BBM evangelists" are still on the platform.

I think BlackBerry should take BBM and rebrand, rename and launch a totally secure alternative to Facebook. Change the dynamic to a secure social media platform.

Why? Plenty of alternatives out there with wide appeal already.

    Telegram, Signal, etc.

I took this as a "get off BB10 so we can shut off the lights" message from BlackBerry.

Well I have said it before and I'll say it again, bb10 is going to be a slow painful death for those sticking around on it. It will become less and less usable. Strap in your seatbelt and enjoy the ride.

Slow I hope. Painful? Not likely. Just got back from a long foray into Android world, setting up the phone with the best apps that I need, customising it just the way I want (or as close as possible). Trying to use it everyday just like my BB10 phones. Only to discover at the end of the journey that I wasn't missing much on my BB10 devices and it is a much less painful experience back on BlackBerry. So the droid goes back in the drawer for now.
