I have been sending some files to friends and if the recipient does not open my message within a certain time, it gets timed out. Is there anything I can do to extend the time before the file I send can be timed out?

Nope, that's hardcoded into the OS.

Get your pal's attention and let them know to you're sending a file so they can accept it before they put the device aside.

I checked everywhere and I don't see an option for that. Sorry

Hate this, I assume it's there to make sure there's not a mass amount of data just hanging out on rims servers. Which frightens me because when it comes to media messaging, if they can't handle that load how are they going to compete with the likes of Snapchat and whatsapp.

I hope it is something they look into, as it is somewhat of an inconvenience. I can understand not having sitting there forever, but it would be nice if files would be active at least 24 hours before they are timed out.
