I'm hoping they got the scripts from the government but how did the government got them in the first place? I'm just wondering what kind of deal they have with BlackBerry which has surely lost points with drug cartels.

They might have gotten the transcripts from his device (possibly no password or unlocked with consent)..... From my understanding it was his communications with Sean Penn that got him caught.

The fact that chapo is "Dad" suggest it was from Kate's device.
