Back in the day when BBM was popular... you'd end up with spam. Not sure that's a thing anymore, as it's probably not a market many advertiser go after.

If you knew the OP starting a group... you send him your pin via PM, not post it out in the open.

Thanks. I understand how BBM Groups work. I meant I simply don't give my PIN to anyone I don't know IRL as a matter of policy. If I can't join a group with a disposable credential, I don't join. That's true on all social platforms. Because I use my BBM for important communications, I would never use it for social networking, period.

In the same way, I would never use my personal or work email or phone numbers for FB, Twitter, or LinkedIn. I compartmentalize the credentials that would be hard to revoke from those I don't much care about.
