Does anyone know if BBM will be available for an iPod as well as iPhones? My son has an iPod Touch and it would be a great way to chat with him vs. sending him an email. Thanks!

The plan was to release it just for iPhones...at least initially. I haven't heard anything that suggests a change in this.

It also requires a cell connection

Yea I'm sure there's a work around coming. The same thing was the case with whatsapp

My point is every OTHER messenger app like kik, whatsapp, etc works on a freaking ipod.

I thought whatsapp could only be used with a strenuous work around method or unless jail broken?

It does NOT require a cell connection. Only a cellular equipped device. Maybe because only those have GPS.

Either way bbm works on wifi on bb y not ipod? Epic fail imo

I'm sure it could have been written into the app.

So with all the other apps not requiring that, bbm could not accomplish that??

This is a fail in my opinion too. Big fan of BlackBerry and I'm not going anywhere but literally EVERY other IM client works on iPods/wifi-only iPads.

    Kik, WhatsApp, iMessage (not xplatform)

I don't understand the reasoning behind this at all.

If your device is jailbroken it will work. I currently have it on my iPad 3 wifi only. You will have to install via appcake or installous with the .ipa file. Hope this helps

My wife just installed it on her ipad mini wifi only. She had just put it on her iPhone. It works, but only one at a time.

I think it's possible. I had it side loaded on the PlayBook.

But I wouldn't call it an epic fail cause it's probably much easier to install BBM on an ipod than Whatsapp!

Sideloaded the apk on my transformer via AirDroid. Works. Doesn't look blurry to me (or did someone say it looked blurry on iPad)?

It would be blurry on a iPad, because it would scale it from an iPhone.

The fail is it should be compatible out the gate. Not me having to jb my ipod.
