I seem to remember in OS7 you had a setting to limit or control updates from contacts. With BBM on bb10 I don't see anything. Has this feature been removed or is it hidden somewhere?

I don't see it anywhere. I looked in the BBM settings (in the app) and under main Settings. You can turn off alerts for BBM globally but not updates specifically unless I'm missing something. (Q10 10.2.0.429)

The newest version of BBM (released today or yesterday) no longer opens to "contacts" by default...it opens to "Updates" and you have to either select "menu>contacts" or hit the "start chat button (+(silhouette)) button in top right corner to get your contact list to appear. The single person silhouette for "contacts" in the bottom middle of the screen has been replaced by the "updates" icon. So BlackBerry seems to think "updates" for people changing their pictures or statuses are more important than the old method of quick access to your contacts.

I guess what's really bugging me is WHY the creation of a "start chat" button that's away from the other commonly used icons, when the old "contacts" icon did the same thing and was front and center instead of in a corner. Do people really want to see all the updates that often? I could care less if someone changed their status to "eating dinner" or whatever.
