Can we use png images as emoticons?

I found an nice site with a few png images:

Blackberry messenger Icons - Download 183 Free Blackberry messenger icons here

Do i have to send as a image or can be used as a regular BBM emoticon?

BTW, if you have others sources of nice pics for BBM, please let me know. I saw other day a nice BBM small logo in other thread, but i couldnt find it anywhere.

As an image. Can't be used as emoticon.

Do you mean pics for your display pic? You can use an pic, just crop it.

Thanks. No, I was saying as a emoticon. As a display I know, but i would like to send as a regular emoticon. Sad... :/
