    Using a passport currently and have another phone as an s5 I want to replace that with the q10 but can I have my bbm account active on both at the same time?

    Nope. Only can have the same BBID to use for BlackBerry World, not BBM.

    Well doesn't it depend on the situation?

    I switch b/t a Q10 and a Z10 while I try out a leak 10.3.1 on the Z10.

    Whenever I put my sim back into the Z10 and start BBM it asks for the email it is associated with. I simply enter my email address and I am using the same BBM on my Z10.

    Unless, if you meant that you wanted to access the same BBM On both phones at the same time. I don't believe that is possible.

    From one bb device to another, it takes me about ten seconds to login on the second device so while not simultaneous, works pretty well

    As nikgilbe put it so nicely, you can't be on both devices at the same time, but both can have the same account. I have two Android devices and my Passport all associated with the same BB ID.

    There's a downside to that. It can take some time to sync a conversation. If the battery is dying in one device and you're switching devices to avoid being tethered to a power cord, you may not see some parts of a conversation for a bit of time. And I've had discussions where there seemed to be gaps in the conversation because not all of it properly synced between devices.
