Yeah me too... the comments about the double checkmark was ok..
But no need to use like WhatsApp is evil... Again displaying the poor marketing capabilities of BlackBerry... grow up and fight more professionally...

WhatsApp never took a personal dig to get to the number 1 spot... BlackBerry must focus more on updates and 'good' communication with their users...

Also BBM isn't available to Android Gingerbread and Symbian OS... the phones which still a few of my friends use... for them WhatsApp is the only true messaging system...

BTW.. I'm a great fan of BlackBerry, but not so for their marketing tactics..

I'm sure I mentioned it on one of these threads that this isn't nearly as bad as when a market leader takes shots at a rival at the bottom. It is unprofessional. In this case Whatsapp is the market leader. Sometimes it can be done respectively, for example when Samsung made those ads about the Unicorn game or whatever and made small pot shots at BlackBerry diehards. It was done respectively IMO. That dude still wanted his BB and that's alright. Interestingly enough if he works for a company that makes mobile games for Android so there really is no reason to have a BlackBerry unless you really love the phone. The LG ads were bad since it is in bad taste to basically call a rival dead, hence needing a eulogy, when you yourself are not doing all that great either and your rival hasn't closed up shop yet and may not anytime soon. BBM is going to take a while to come even close to the subscriber numbers of WhatsApp. Even if they bring out loads of features and make it available for every phone they are the underdog in this case as well. Best case scenario for this type of advertising goes to Audi and BMW. I'm sure most people have seen those billboards floating around the net. It was good because they played off the rival and both have strong customer base and great products. Also those ads got noticed by people all over the world. Win Win.

And, with all that said, I am still going to have to agree with this right here. I don't care for this type of marketing. Most people don't. It isn't a new type of marketing, but the medium has changed quite a bit. It's good to call out your strengths but to openly bad mouth competition when one is not in the position to speak is in bad taste IMO. Sooo. Bad BB. Be more professional.

All companies do this type of marketing weather you like it or no. This type of marketing is what helped Samsung sell so many more phones then apple.

Microsoft, LG, Nokia, Samsung etc all use this type of marketing. It might not be what people agree with but it's what works.

I think it's ok for either side. It's aggressive, but it comes with risks because BB has to know they will get their fair share back in their face if they botch anything with BBM now.
