Here are some of the new emotions (might have missed one or two).

    You can't have it all.
If you have it all now, what would get in later days?

Whatsapp has practically all those options. Why can't BBM?

And we'd get new developments, DUH!

So I'd guess this update for BB10 will be the same as the version currently in the limited beta in the Beta Zone.

It brings landscape orientation and inline pictures sent to Group Chats, that's what I can remember about it anyway.

Add yourself as contact - what for?

Autosave received photos - no, please I would have my phone full with thousands of useless pics, I just save the ones I want

Share original size photos - most of my friends have small data plans, that's better for them, and most of the times I don't need a HQ pic (although it could be easier for newbies)

So, different people, different needs. It's fine for me.

OK. Why would anyone want to add them self as a contact? I would go crazy if my phone auto saved any pictures I received. The inability to hide the bottom bar is important to you? I'm not feeling your pain.

If those are imporant to you, and I take it that they are, then use whatsapp until BBM catches up. Then again, BBM may not adopt some of the same functionalities. It's nice to have choices, doesn't it?

bbm is one part of BlackBerry

WhatsApp's entire team work on improving WhatsApp

    BlackBerry works on 10000 things

And WhatsApp is nowhere near bbm capability, fb messenger has more features than WhatsApp..whatsapp doesn't have real groups for one..

    Personally gotta stop you here
I use BBM for most of my communication, but have all my groups on WhatsApp. Why? Because all my group friends and I agree that the implementation of groups on WhatsApp is very superior to what BBM offers for what we use the group for. One thing I'd love to come to BBM Groups is the message counter. Currently when opening a chat, it takes you to the bottom of the chat and not at the last read message. Not a problem if you have a small group, but when you have some very active ones (talking 1.2K in one and 800 in the other average daily, it's something that is really wanted. Not saying you should agree, but just stating my (and about 50 people who've told me) opinion.

    And I'll charge right ahead..

You're talking about multi person chat there not groups (even though it's called groups it's not groups like bbm is)

And I actually agree that that's a feature that should have been in bbm long ago(in multipersom chats and groups) , but that doesn't change my statement that whatsapp doesn't have real groups..

Groups on bbm is business orientated (synced calenders synced notes etc. Things whatsapp 'group' doesn't have) but there are still a number of features lacking..

The main reason from my perspective that people wouldn't use bbm groups or bbm in general (in developed economies) is lack of users. Everything else is minor, you can have all the great features but if people don't use your app then it won't go anywhere, BlackBerry need to maintain a high growth of adoption numbers for at least a year to bring bbm back on the table, that's more to do with advertising and on the whole marketing than one feature (imho)

BBM v2.2 for Android will be available starting later tonight
Running the Android update now on a Nexus 5 and it *looks to me* as though the BlackBerry connected icon is broken. It disappears when app is closed and reappears when the app is restarted. That said, the Android version is by far the better interface of the two apps built for other os's.

Over at Android Central BlackBerry and BBM are getting a new one ripped by the locals.
