I'm not sure I understand the question...
There are dozens or maybe hundreds of IM apps readily available out there. Does FireChat in particular threaten BBM? No. It's almost the opposite of BBM from the description.
BBM is competing against WhatsApp, Skype, Hangouts, iMessage & FaceTime, WeChat, and a few other big name apps.
Got did not quite understand the model when I posted. Fire chat is a hackable messenger of first order I am told.
