I have just set up a VPN on my Q10 bought from Etisalat but unlocked by them.
I still do not get the BBM Voice/Video icons in my conversations with people who are in different countries with it already set up.

Does your carrier allow BBM voice/video over the network? Is it supposed to work once you've set up VPN? Or do you mean it is not working over wifi?

Nope the carrier has it banned, however, using a VPN you can bypass that and have it work.

But the bbm video/voice call icons arent coming up on my bbm for chats with people who do have it activated(in different countries)

I haven't seen this information anywhere else that using a VPN will allow you to bypass the carrier block. Can you point me to a thread or article that confirms this? Would be helpful to know

I think you need the BBM version which has voice and video. But I am not sure, because it was like that on old bbos however it might be different on bb10

Haven't been able to do to bbm video over data using vpn to make it work on Q10

Under Settings/Network Connections... It is the last option

What type of vpn you tried to add? I don't think there's any pptp available for BlackBerry and I use witopia and Purevpn. Both of them are easy to add and it's not free. Once you purchase, they will give you the complete guidance.

Please note that Even after running vpn, I haven't got the BBM video or audio yet in my phone. I have traveled with my DU sim abroad and there also it was showing your network provider doesn't allow this feature.

UAE banned BBM Voice and BBM Video. However using the VPNme subsciption that I have it was starting to work! Infact I was able to call BBM Voice. Whats weird is all of a sudden it doesnt work anymore.

I really dont understand if Skype and Google hangout can work in mobile devices, what's the point in blocking BBM Video and Audio. Weird..
