So, had a missed call in the hub from my friend on his PB, i was unaware this functionality was possible.

To contact him back i can open the messqge in the hub and begin video calling him. However, how would i go about video calling him if without the message in the hub? I cant add him to BBM as its a playbook?

If you have him saved as a contact, open him in contacts and there should be an option to call PlayBook video chat. I call my mum this way.

You can do a PlayBook video chat from the Z10 but not a BBM video call.

And there is why you can't do it. It's well known that using the same ID messes the whole thing up.

Use different IDs, you'll see it work. There is a chance (slight at best) that is the devices are on different WiFi networks, it may work.

It wont work from the Z10 to the playbook for the simple fact that in the Z10 is BBM video call meaning you can call BBM contacts only, while in the playbook is a standalone app, until the PB gets BB10 or BBM with video calls it will only work from the PB to the Z10 not the other way

yes to everybody above who has said that it doesnt work please stop. it works fine.
Also i have the same bbid on my playbook and my z10 and when someone else calls me it rings on both devices at the same time. the call will connect to whatever device i answer first.
As stated above to call from the z10 you have to have a contact in your address book and the email address has to be the one associated to the users bbid on the playbook.

in my contacts, all i see is a field for the bb pin.

That is completely incorrect.. please check your facts before posting something as if you are certain.. it causes problems for others who rely on your information.. I have a Z10 and a Playbook.. My wife only has a Playbook.. I can call her on her PlayBook from my Z10 no problem at all..

There is no field for BBid.. you just enter the email address they use as their BBid in the email address field and it will automatically determine that it is a BBid and automatically list them as a video chat contact.

do you have a pin for that contact? if so it doesn't look for the video chat connection for some reason.. try creating a new contact.. just put a name and their bbid email adress.. nothing else.. save the contact.. then exit out and go back and look.. it should show the playbook video chat icon.. then you can either copy over their other info, or just link the two contacts together.

possible they never setup playbook video chat on their playbook?

if you want to PM me the email address you're trying to add I can give it a shot ( I promise not to actually call them ) and see if it works for me or not.
