    My gf downloaded BBM on her iphone, but she tells me that she doesn't get notified of new messages if the app isn't open. There is no notification on the lock screen or on the BBM icon. Is that the case for anyone else?

    I just asked one of my iPhone friends and she said she gets notifications just like on her BlackBerry.
    Have your gf check her notification settings - might have BBM checked to no notify?

    It asks you for permission to send push notifications upon setup. Maybe she said no by accident.

    Hmm maybe. I guess I will take a look next time. She says it's only when her phone locks and she has to put in her pin that it doesn't show. Dunno.

    My partner and I have both been running bbm since it was released for iOS and are now running it on 5s's on iOS7.1.1. Notifications in notification centre of new messages behave very inconsistently. It is sometimes two days late or so that a notification appears for a message you have read during a chat long ago. Other times it appears right on time.

    Anyone else having these issues?

    Similar issue on my wife's 4S. BBM'S are not coming through for 24hrs - or sometimes not at all! I'll have a look at her settings/permissions. I thought it might be because she doesn't always have the app open in the background.

    I have BlackBerry and used to have 4s. When I test on my 4s I don't have issues yet. But if the app is closed then my BlackBerry just shows a check mark. When the app is in background it will put a D, and then when I open the message obviously R. In all my testing whether app is open or not the notification comes up like normal.

    Sometimes messages might take a few minutes but generally when I text family that does have iphones they usually reply back quick.

    So like others said, check the bbm privacy settings and make sure it's given permission to notify
