I have an xperia tipo. Running android 4.0.4 ice cream sandwich but when I go to download BBM it says not compatible with my device although it states on the website bbm is available for Android 4 or higher does anyone know where I can get the apk for bbm or if I can download a higher version of the os on my phone

Where are you trying to download it from? The Play store? Did you try going to BBM Share

I found that I had issues downloading from the app store but going to bbm.com directly made things much easier.

Also, if you decide to go the APK route, here: BBM 1.0.0.70 | APKDAD

Your device has to have a cell radio or it's no go.

I stand corrected. Below is staight from BlackBerry android faq.

For Android,BBM supports smartphones running Android V.4.0 (Ice cream Sandwich)� and later and with a screen size of 7? or less.

Wrong. Your device does NOT Need cell radio service. I activated my (cellular-equipped) iPad over wi-fi. Cell radio was not even turned on.

Are you running a custom rom? If so, according to the faq, it is not supported.

I installed the apk and it launches but opens Google play with in bbm it then goes back to bbm saying setting up bbm and it doesn't change

The website claims compatible with "smartphones" and devices with <7" screen, not tablet compatible.

My Lenovo tablet running 4.0.3 won't work via Google Play page. "Incompatible with device".

I was able to download the app but that?s pretty much it. As soon as I opened it, the BBM Setup menu began and it?s been in the ?Setting up BBM? for quite some time now. Never even got the chance to enter my email address.

It worked for me after I removed dpi changes from the play store. That made it not compatible.

Since BlackBerry already points out in their literature that it is compatible with 7" devices and smaller, that's really not a surprise.

My Lenovo tablet is 10".

It seems that for the purposes of BBM, the company considers devices up to 7" a "phablet" not a "tablet", as they claim it does not support tablets at this time:

Just download the official APK from the link provided and install as usual. The APK is an official version extracted from Play Store and free from Malware. Works Well. Confirmed.
